“THE SHEPHERD” is a new comic book title created and written by Andrea Molinari.

Creator and writer Andrea Molinari explains the premise of “The Shepherd”.

“How much loss can a good man endure before his high-minded principles crumble under the pressure and the brute animal lurking inside lashes out, craving retribution? After enduring the sudden and tragic death of his teen-aged son, Dr. Lawrence Miller, a professor and theologian, is drawn into a dark vortex of guilt, anger, and despair.  Even his own suicide is not enough to end his desire for vengeance on those who wronged his family and brought about his son’s untimely death.  As a result, his after-life becomes a terrifying conflict between his unbridled anger and his innate knowledge that he has lost his way.  His choices are crucial as own soul hangs in the balance. This is a story about a family bond that is tested to the extreme, about the unbreakable connection between loved ones, and the power of Truth.”

Molinari selected Scattered Studio’s Josh Barker as the artist for The Shepherd.  Barker explains what attracted him to the story, “I don’t really know how to describe my process too much — I’m a visual guy, not a words guy. But I can tell you what drew me to the story. When I read the script, I liked that it wasn’t your typical vengeance story. The Shepherd is different than any other comic book story I’ve ever read. Lawrence’s journey is not your run-of-the-mill revenge story, as he eventually confronts his own failures in coping with grief, including his selfishness, his blindness to the suffering of those around him. Also, as a father myself, I connected to Lawrence and felt I could understand him. I also recognized right away when reading the script that this was a fully realized idea, with real thought and effort put into it — a labor of love. The writing and the characters are so real. This is a project I am proud to be connected with.”

Molinari also selected Scattered Studio’s Heather Breckel to be the digital Colorist. Jason Dube will be doing both word bubble, and pre-press.
