This is a very exciting time for the studio as we get ready to celebrate the annual holiday “Free Comic Book Day”. This year 4 of Scattered Studio artists will be at Empire Comics Vault in Sacramento to help the store celebrate and give away from comics to all who attend. This year the store is making the day a mini convention and even will have a fire truck outdoors for the kids to ride and get a feeling at being a real hero.

The Scattered Studio artists will include studio manager and artist Jason Dube. This year Jason will be giving out a new free published comic courtesy of RA COMICS. RA COMICS is a professional comic book printer. They can print your comic books in 3-4 days and have outstanding service. Be sure to check out RA COMICS to print your next comic book project and let them know you heard about them from us. Besides the free sampler comic, Jason will be selling all his latest releases. Be sure to your free comic and get signed by Jason Dube.

Joining Jason is the veteran comic artist Neill Brengettsey. Neill has worked at Marvel, DC, Image, and Hasbro as has a wealth of knowledge that he brings to both the studio and to the projects he works on. As a Graphic Designer he has designed lettering and logos for record companies, Verizon Wireless, and the State of California. I also have formal training in Photoshop and Illustrator and utilize them both in the production of art.

Next we have Yolante Charles who has worked on several projects and is well known for her work on Panda Shorts #1 and #2. Originally from Canada she came to California and is currently working on becoming a permanent resident. She recently graduated from Sacramento City College
with a Associate’s Degree in Graphic Communications and three certificates. Her art style is an original anime style, and is often made to work on her ‘adorable chibis’. She will be at the event bringing with her prints and fan loved keychains. (as well as her Panda Shorts).

We can’t forget to mention the awesome art stylings of Melissa McCommon. Melissa McCommon is a self-taught artist and comic book writer. Growing up in Vacaville, California, Melissa was one of the many cases of children who struggled to read. But soon, she taught herself to read from comic books, which gave her a love for the medium ever since then. Her style is cute and very expressionative! Great for sequential storytelling. Recently self publishing her first comic book, Carnation, Melissa is now working on her newest comic book Guardian and web comic Epic Chaos!, also while doing the art for Jason Dube’s “Caffine Poisoned (series 2)”.  She will be in attendance bringing  her self-published comic book “Carnation” which will be discounted for the event, as well prints, and some free promotional materials. She is also collecting donations in which all funds she gets will go to a children’s hospital. So be sure to bring a little extra something to put in the jar.

So if you haven’t already made set plans for Free Comic Book Day and are in the Sacramento, CA. area, be sure to stop by Empire Comics. Click here for more info.
