As a toy designer he worked for Hasbro on Harry Potter, Transformers, and GIJoe. The first variant was a special edition that was exclusive to the convention known as Horror Hound. The special edition sold out in record time. With Scattered Studio’s Sarah Straub providing colors to this variant, and was said to have a very “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” feel to it.
The latest edition will be another exclusive cover to the Flashback Weekend show. With the show being called Flashback, Neill was comissioned to create a 50′s throwback theme cover keeping the scarry vampire element. It was also the first time that Neill was asked to provide his own coloring to these variants.
Publisher Jeff Hughes was quoted saying, “Neill did a superb job on the “FANGS” #1 variant cover, he gave the cover the exact look I was looking for blending the old 50’s and a slight Norman Rockwell look with the horror element. In addition his portrayal of actress Michelle Shields was also very accurate and really captures her and the character “Sapphire”.”

Wolfgang described the idea to do a film & comic for “Kato” started out as a spin off from the character Kato from The Black Facade feature film. The script that was first written was “Kato The Kung Fu Killer” and it was a comedy type thing , until he decided he didn’t want to go that route once he took it more serious and wanted to make it a good dark action movie . When he saw the idea and talked to the writer Adam Vargas about what he wanted to do, they decided that they would rewrite the entire script .
The script named just Kato is the feature film version of how all these characters are introduced and met in the first story . Then writer Adam Vargas and Wolfgang working on a 1 hour each 25 episode TV Pilot for the stories that would continue after the feature film story.
The other part of the project is about how Wolfgng wanted to make the comic series . The first comic is the story of the feature film which will be one special issue that will be promoted first . Then down the road they plan to make the 25 issue comic series to the 1 hour episode scripts.
The story itself is The Naga crime family is the largest family in the Yakuza. Planning to launch the POLOPS satellite with the ability to reverse the polarity in a targeted area, anywhere in the world. CIA Agent Burbank is sent to intercept the POLOPS energy source.
That’s when his path crosses with Kato, a day-time limo driver, whom Burbank believes to be a fellow agent. Burbank is kidnapped and Kato must fulfill his promise to Burbank to complete the mission. Flying to California, Kato teams up with Burbank’s team, on a mission which leads them halfway around the world to Japan to stop the Naga crime family. There, Kato will make lifelong friends and enemies.

”Deadly Threads” is a new comic book title being published by Comic Book Divas about a girl with self-esteem issues who becomes possessed by an ancient spirit. The story starts out very simply, but then changes gears and makes the story a bit more complex and much more intense. Themes of change and friendship are at the heart of it all.
The writer/creator, Joe Garcia, approached Scattered Studios and quickly selected his creative team of Jason Dube to provide the artwork, text and pre-press. While Stacy Raven will add her digital coloring.
Scattered Studios had a chance to sit down with creator of the series, Joe Garcia, to get some perspective on what he plans for his comic.
STUDIO: How did you come up with this story idea for “Deadly Threads”?
JOE: I have several friends who are indie filmmakers and I used to jokingly pitch the story to them. Since I’m a screen-printer in ‘real life’ the idea of a possessed t-shirt seemed even more ludicrous. When I pitched the story to Jeff Hughes, the publisher/founder of Comic Book Divas, he didn’t take it as a joke at all. “Get me a script and we’ll see about making it happen,” he told me without a trace of sarcasm. I then started to take the idea seriously and worked up an outline for the story.
STUDIO: Is this planned to be a one-shot or series comic?
JOE: It’ll be a finite series, that I currently have plotted for five issues. That could change of course. I’d initially plotted it for four, but keep encountering things I wanted to expand on.
STUDIO: Since your a famous silk screener, will you be releasing any special apparell for the comic?
JOE: The shirt featured in the the comic is available for purchase on my website (http://www.fastcustomshirts.com/servlet/Detail?no=1155). If readers are longing to be possessed by a malicious spirit, buying the shirt is the first step.
STUDIO: What are your thoughts about Jason Dube’s artwork and the coloring of Stacy Raven?
JOE: I couldn’t be more satisfied. I’d never written in script form so I had to sketch out thumb-nails to get an idea of what I wanted to describe. When Jason sent me the first pages, they were almost exactly what I’d sketched out. Jason uses an anime style which I feel is perfect for the story, because while it deals with some serious themes, I want it to remain a fun read. Stacy’s colors are outstanding! I was floored by what a difference they made to the pages.
STUDIO: Which character(s) are you mostly anxious to see come to life in the comic book?
JOE: There’s a rabbit in the story that I can’t really talk about without giving too much away, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what Jason and Stacy do with this devious critter.
STUDIO: Joe, any last comments?
JOE: Just hope people will have as much fun reading the story as we did putting it together.
Thanks to Joe Garcia for taking the time to talk with us; we will be sure to keep everyone informed on this latest comic book from the talented artists of Scattered Studios “Deadly Threads” #1 will debut at SplatterFest 2011.
